1000 Combined Winners for Codd

Jamie Codd reached another milestone in his illustrious career between the flags when riding his 1000th winner across all codes aboard Hitman Fred at Bartlemy.

The Wexford native recorded a four-timer at the Cork track following a double at Necarne the previous day. Two of his winners’ came from the in-form yard of Denis Murphy, of whom Codd has ridden eighteen winners for so far this season. Other winners’ on the day came from the Declan Queally-trained Allannah’s Gold in the confined maiden and then aboard his brothers Imperial Oscar in the first division of the six-year-old-and-upwards maiden.  

Codd reached another milestone last month at Punchestown when he took the Champion Amateurs title for the first time having recorded 41 winners’ during the season.

His first winner under rules was Killultagh Thunder at Leopardstown in 2001 and his first point-to-point winner came at Bramblestown in the same year aboard Eyse. He has since won two champion point-to-point rider titles in 2016 & 2014, 11 Eastern titles and 2 Northern titles.  

Codd has partnered some top class individuals over his career including the likes of Finians Oscar, Tranquil Sea, Joncol, Fayonagh, Shaneshill, Petit Mouchoir, Rule Supreme, Junior, Minutestomidnight and Cause of Causes to name just a few.

With seven meetings left for the current season, Codd is six winners behind Barry O’Neill on 59-53 in The Irish Field rider’s title.
