08 February 2010 Point to Point not affected by any Indsutrial Action by Turf Club Officials

 

Point to Point Committees may have been concerned to read over the last number of days the possible Industrial Action within racing within the coming weeks.

The issue is between HRI, Turf Club & Officials and relates to issues between the officials and those bodies. The officials livelihood is generated from racecourses and only a small number of officials actually cover both Racecourses and Point to Points.

For this reason it is not anticipated that Point to Points will be affected by this dispute.

 

Contact about the situation Michael O’Donoghue stated that he has long established love for point to pointing and fully values the work done by Volunteers who put on a meeting often only once a year. This day is make or break for the hunt and the officials would always endeavour to help and certainly never hinder these meetings.

 

This will be a relief for the upcoming Point to Points who may have had concerns about their meetings in the coming weeks.

 

In fact very few of the racecourse officials actually cover Point to Point. The ones that do include Michael O’Donoghue, Paddy Graffin & Andrew McKeever in recent years although Graffin & O’Donoghue are noted absentees at the moment over an internal dispute affecting their role in Point to Points.
