WEEKEND PREVIEW: Maralin (Saturday)

Race 1: Dennison Commercials Ltd 4yo Maiden

Overworkdunderpaid brings the strongest form into the race having finished third behind Rapid Escape on his debut at Tinahely, however the Gordon Elliott-trained VALDIEU was sent off as the favourite for his debut at Borris House last month when coming down before the race really began to develop. A big run was clearly expected from the well-bred sort on his debut and he could be the one to side with here. Crio Cuervos was expected to post a bold showing at Cragmore for his debut before finishing a well-beaten third. Improvement can be expected.

Race 2: Albert Bartlett 5yo Geldings Maiden

WHAT ANOTHER YEAR would have gone close before coming down at the last on debut at Killeagh in January. Whilst he was a soundly beaten favourite at Lemonfield earlier this month, he could be worth another chance in this contest. Dermot McLoughlin has saddled four point-to-point winners in recent weeks and with confidence high in the stable form, his representative Freewheelin Dylan has to be taken seriously in this race following a promising second at Kirkistown in November when with Shane Donohoe. Newcomer Calisson Dalene could be of interest.

Race 3: Tattersalls Ireland 5yo Mares Maiden

DELGANY LASS has proven herself to be a competitive sort in the right races, finishing placed in three of her four starts this season. Her consistency may well be rewarded here. Commerical Ruin could have her third start of the month and she may come into the reckoning on her run at Tyrella 13-months ago. Heather Moth, who disappointed slightly at Punchestown last month, may prove to be the pick of the remainder.

Race 4: LC Homes (Lilburn Contracts) Open 4yo

MOUNT COLAH will seek to keep his unbeaten record between the flags in tact having made a winning debut in a Lougbrickland almost six-years ago. Returning to points with a rating of 143 over fences, he would look to be the class act of the race. Ourmanmassini is a three-time winner during the autumn, and having failed to make the cut for Fridays Foxhunters at the Cheltenham Festival, he looks a big danger. Red Devil Boys can step-up on his most recent effort.

Race 5: Northern Excavators Ltd. 6yo Geldings Maiden

SARSFIELDS LEGEND finished four-lengths behind The Trigger at Necarne in May on his latest outing and with his conqueror advertising the form when scoring comfortably at Tyrella in recent weeks. Whilst he does have to surrender recent race fitness, he is one to note. The Paul McAleese-trained Rossamilan posted a career best on his first outing in older maiden company, and it would be no surprise to see him go close on what will be a sixth career start for the son of Milan.

Race 6: Winner of Three

Whilst it is a notable step-up in grade to go from a mares maiden directly into winners of three company, such was the ease of her victory last Saturday at Kirkistown, that HOLYCROSS LITO may well be the one to beat in an open contest. Infrontofthejudge is another horse turned out quickly having also run last Saturday where he was comfortably defeated by Captain CJ. Puff My Pistons and Itsanoldcliche are other last-time out winners capable of landing a blow.
