From Lisronagh P2P, to the snow of St Moritz & success in Germany

Irish point-to-point graduates have enjoyed success in locations further afield to Ireland and the UK with the likes of Scorpiancer and Portrade in the US.

During the summer months ex-Irish pointer Moss Cloud flew the Irish flag across Scandinavia having won three races for his new connections.

Daulys Anthem is the latest name to add to the winning list of Irish pointers enjoying success across Europe.

The Royal Anthem gelding won a seven-year-old-and-upwards maiden at Lisronagh in March 2015 when under the care of P. J. Crowley before moving to the David Dennis yard.

The now 10-year-old was placed on five occasions in both hurdles and chases before being bought at the Tattersalls Ireland Ascot June sale for £2,200 by Dan Skelton where he went on to win two handicap chases.

Daulys Anthem then changed stables to his current handler, Christian Von Der Recke who trains at Weilerswist which is in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany.

Just a month after joining his new yard, Daulys Anthem made his debut for his new trainer at Bremen in a 2m4f chase.

Unplaced on that occasion, Daulys Anthem was fourth on his next start in a similar contest before making his first start at the rather unusual venue of St Moritz.

Situated in Switzerland, racing takes place on a frozen lake over three weekends during February, and the former Lisronagh winner lined-up on all three race days where he finished seventh and sixth.

On the 4th April Daulys Anthem gained his first victory for his new connections when he won a 1m3f flat race at Sonsbeck in Germany.

As you can see in the video below of Daulys Anthem in action at St. Moritz on the 11th February, it has few comparisons to Lisronagh where he started his racing career.
