Foxrock sold at Goffs UK May sale

Last season’s Champion hunter chaser, Foxrock, changed hands at the Goffs UK horses-in-training sale this week.

The 10-year-old was bought by Ivy Lea Stables Ltd for £22,000 who aim to run their new recruit in British point-to-points next season.

Foxrock won his first point-to-point as a four-year-old on his debut at Loughrea in 2012 and went on to become a high class chaser which includes two wins in Grade two's and was narrowly beaten in the 2015 Grade one Hennessy by Carlingford Lough.

The son of Flemensfirth made his point-to-point reappearance at Borris House in December 2016 for Ted Walsh in a novice riders open where he finished second to Balnaslow.

The nine-year-old reversed placings with Balnaslow in the Down Royal hunter chase at Christmas when beating him by nine lengths.

The Barry Connell-owned gelding remained unbeaten in his next three starts and in doing so beat three high class point-to-pointers in On His Own at Thurles, On The Fringe at Leopardstown and Maple Mons in the Tetretema at Gowran Park.

Foxrock made his seasonal reappearance at Thurles in January and finished runner-up to Gilgamboa for his new handler, Alan Fleming. He ran a further two times this spring when running below par at both Cheltenham and most recently at Killarney where he pulled up on both occasions.

Yorkshire based-handler, Nicky Tinkler who will be training Foxrock, enjoyed a profitable day on Thursday as he sold his winning five-year-old gelding, Financier to Kerry Lee for £115,000 having won at Witton Castle on the 7th May.
