Weekend Preview | Ballinaboola

Race 1: Monbeg Stables 4yo Maiden

A bumper entry for this four-year-old maiden where the likes of HANG TOUGH, who finished a promising fourth at The Pigeons last month, is likely to be among the principals from those horses that have the advantage of previous experience.

Flaming Glory and Murphys Law have both got among the placings to date, whilst Methodtothemadness is an interesting entry. She was all out of luck in the spring, but has shown definite ability and would be another to note if bypassing a potential engagement against her own sex at Lisronagh 24 hours earlier.

Race 2: Horse & Hound Hotel 5yo Geldings Maiden

NO HIDDEN CHARGES has had to wait a long time to gain compensation for an unlucky final-fence fall at Courtown, but he showed he was coming back to his best at Loughbrickland when finishing second, and this would look a wide open race.

Plan Of Escape has been unable to justify favouritism at Borris House and Taylorstown, but would be a danger on his Lingstown debut 12 months ago, whilst Darsi Rose has seemed to have progressed this autumn.

Race 3: NitroFert 5yo+ Adjacent Mares Maiden

ROBIN GOLD was in with a big chance of making a winning debut at Stradbally in the spring, as she found herself upsides the eventual winner only to tip up at the final fence. That costly error may have denied her an initial maiden success, but she can go close here to make amends.

Tap The Biscuit was let down by jumping errors on her reappearance at Damma House last Sunday but has shown ability in the spring, whilst Bythebogofcats was running well at Dowth Hall prior to her third-last fence departure.

Race 4: Cooney Furlong Winner Of One

WINGED LEADER brings winning four-year-old maiden form into this race following his success at Loughbrickland a fortnight ago, and with plenty of experience prior to that, he should be well up to making the step into winners company here.

The mare Summons To Court bumped into a smart type at Tinahely as she went to follow up her wide-margin Moira success and is a danger here, alongside Toomebridge victor Decor Irlandais.

Race 5: Ballywalter Farms Open- Novice Riders

CARRIGNAGAPPLE enjoyed success around here in February and emerged from his debut in open company at Tinahely later that month with real credit, finishing a close third behind two capable individuals, including Chapter Two, who went on to win over hurdles.

As a former Grade 2 winner, Roadie Joe is sure to be of interest on his return between the flags, whilst the likes of Cavite Beta and Some Are Lucky have already proven themselves in open company.

Race 6: The Wexford Hunt 6yo+ Maiden

MY FOREVER FRIEND was unlucky at Damma House last Sunday and will be out to gain compensation here having held a slight advantage before coming to grief at the second-last. Mista Wabbit Man finished third in this race 12 months before returning to the track, whilst Final Sting, Perle Rose and Witches Glen are others for the shortlist.
