Weekend Outlook | 16th December

WEST WATERFORD (F) at Boulta on 16 Dec 2018

First Race: 10:30

Number of Entries:
175

Admission: €8

The West Waterford’s fixture at Boulta is the last meeting before Christmas and the hunt have been rewarded with a fine entry of 175.

As a result the start time has been brought forward to 10.30am, in the event of a couple of the races dividing. Held on the land of the Mulcahy’s, the track is hosting three fixtures in the space of six weeks this season, but organisers will have plenty of fresh ground at the track, which is also a popular schooling ground.

Boulta has been a springboard for many decent performers under rules over the year’s, including none other than 2010 Irish Grand National winner Blue Sea Cracker who won her maiden here in 2006.

On Thursday Kaye Moroney was kind enough to update us on how preparations were going.

“Everything looks good for Sunday, the track is ready and the fences were moved on Monday, so it will be a fresh track. I was up there this morning and everything looks perfect. Talking to people last week we thought there would be a good entry, but we didn’t think it would be as big as it is, it’s fantastic. It’s great to see the point-to-points coming back to this.

The Mulcahy’s have a perfect situation here for the declarations and the jockeys changing. We will have a hospitality area, along with Carney's being on site with a chipper on site as well.”
