Three Coolmore stallions sired doubles last weekend

Coolmore stallions enjoyed a successful weekend with Milan, Getaway and Yeats siring two-winners each across the five meetings held over the weekend.

Milan is an unbeaten two-year-old and classic-winning three-year-old by Sadler's Wells. The sire stands at Grange Stud for a 2019 fee of €8,000.

Milan sired the four-year-old maiden winner at Moira on Saturday. Having fallen on his debut, Mossy Fen secured a two-length victory over the Stuart Crawford-trained Somptueux for Wexford handler Donnchadh Doyle.

The sire's second success of the weekend came in the mares winner of two race at Dromahane when Maifitz's Madonna recorded victory for Gerard Kelleher and Michael O'Sullivan. The six-year-old has now won her last three starts under O'Sullivan.

Some of Milan's successful point progeny have also gone on to achieve great success under rules including Martello Tower, Sizing Granite and Monalee.

Getaway, the son of Monsun, stands at Grange Stud for a 2019 fee of €7,500.

The John Walsh-trained Getaway Mag recorded the sire's first success on Sunday in the five-year-old and upwards mares maiden.

The Colin Bowe-trained and Gigginstown House Stud-owned Domitian provided the sire with his first success of the weekend in the four-year-old mares maiden at Bellurgan. The stallions second winner of the day came in the five-year-old and upwards mares maiden at Ballysteen when the John Walsh-trained Getaway Mag defeated Awesome Lady by a neck.

Some of Getaway's previous pointing progeny have enjoyed success on the track including Getabird who made €200,000 after winning at the second time of asking for Colin Bowe in 2016 and Getareason who was second on his debut for handler Warren Ewing. Harold Kirk and Willie Mullins subsequently purchased the chestnut gelding for £140,000.

Yeats is an unbeaten two-year-old and a winner of seven Group 1 races including an unprecedented four consecutive victories in the Ascot Gold Cup. The son of Sadler's Wells stands at Castlehyde Stud for a fee of €5,000 for 2019.

The sire enjoyed two winners on Sunday, the first of which came at Dromahane when Thoor Castle scored success in the five-and-six-year-old maiden for Robert Tyner and Declan Queally.

The stallion sired his second winner in the five-year-old geldings' at Bellurgan Park when Anthony Fox steered Brief Ambition to success by four lengths for Peter Flood.

Yeats' progeny have gone on to enjoy plenty of success on the track with the likes of Shattered Love flying the flag for sire. The Cheltenham Festival winner, who cost 50,000 as a store, won her four-year-old debut for Pat Doyle back in 2015.
