Weekend Preview | Oldcastle

Race 1: Goffs Punchestown Sale 4yo Maiden

The Colin Bowe pairing of Battle Of Actium and AHEAD OF SCHEDULE bring some of the most experience to the race, with preference going to the latter on account of the improvement that he showed when stepping up to finish second at Portrush late last month.

Falethao Dana ran a fine race on debut to finish fourth at Courtown, whilst a number of well-bred horses also feature in this that will be worth a market look if taking up this engagement.

Race 2: REA McGee Auctioneers 5&6yo Mares Maiden

TOKYO GETAWAY returns from a mid-season break and having finished a close second in a four-year-old mares maiden at Tattersalls Farm before Christmas, she would look to be the one to beat.

Princess Cave came up against a smart looking individual at Courtown earlier this month in what was just her debut, whilst Thats The Truth is worthy of a second chance following her promising debut at Ballinaboola. Her connections will be hoping that she can leave a below par display at Lingstown behind her here.

Race 3: My Dream Boat - Compas Equine Open

KRUZHLININ must now play catch-up if he is to wrestle the champion point-to-point horse back from Longhouse Music, and connections will be hoping that he can record that he can regain the winning thread with an eighth success of the season.

Sydney Paget is the reigning champion pointer but has yet to register a win this season and will need to bounce back from his third at Rathcannon, whilst Arctic Skipper, Kadmer and Horendus Hulabaloo are others to consider.

Race 4: Triermore Stud 5&6yo Geldings Maiden

The Mick Goff-trained CLONDAW DANCER was still in front when falling at the second-last in Moira recently and he could be able to gain compensation here.

Cremant took a step forward from his Ballindenisk debut in December when finishing a fine second at Rathcannon recently, whilst Up The Straight was only narrowly denied in a tight finish at Lisronagh, and he has a wealth of experience behind him.

Race 5: Precia Molen Mares Winner Of One

O Neill Bookmakers, P & N Casey Bookmakers, Dinny Gould Bookmaker 6yo Geldings Maiden
The wide-margin Lismore winner SEASIDE GIRL came up against a now three-time winner when narrowly denied at Durrow in a race which saw the front pair pull nicely clear of their rivals. She can regain winning ways in this.

Achy Breaky Heart could well be her main challenger having also won her maiden by a wide margin with her 15-length success at Tyrella. Of the others, Sadhbhs Delight gained a long overdue success at Courtown, whilst Shul Luas could bounce back from her late departure in the GAIN Mares Final.

Race 6: Tattersalls Ireland and Oldcastle House Hotel 6yo Maiden (Nov Rdrs)

AIRGEAD SUAS has hit the crossbar in each of her four outings to date, but having run four times within a two-month period, she is back from a break and could be the one to beat with the 5lb mares allowance very much in her favour.

Fiddler Of Dooney has had plenty of chance and should be in the shake up once again, whilst Patriots Prayer improved upon his stable debut when second in Portrush and he should also get involved.
