CARLOW FARMERS (F) at Borris House on 08th Dec 2019

Taking place on the estate of the ancestral home of the MacMurrough Kavanagh`s, Kings of Leinster, Borris House is a big wide easy course that typically draws big fields to the only currently active course in Carlow, which first held a point-to-point in 2011.

Jane Foley has taken over from Gill Browne and this will be her first point-to-point acting as Secretary.

The Carlow Farmers have been rewarded with an entry of 177, with the open race attracting a total of 24 entries.

That race looks set to be a competitive affair as there are several experienced contenders entered, some of which include Portrush winner Eddie’s Miracle, Damma House winner Lough Derg Lyric, My Story, who is already a three time winner this season and multiple winner Samanntom.

Schooling will take place on the track Monday 9th December from 09:00 am to 13:00 pm.

LOUTH (F) at Tattersalls Farm on 08th Dec 2019

Set on over 220 acres of lush green Meath countryside, a huge amount of work takes place throughout the year by Eugene O’ Neill and his team at Tattersalls to ensure the track is in excellent condition for all that come through the gate.

It could be set for a busy day on Sunday, with the fixture receiving an entry of 171 horses.

The winner-of-one race has attracted an entry of 24, with several successful contenders entered it looks like it could be another competitive affair, some of the entries include the Ellen Doyle-trained French Light, ten-length Knockinroe winner The Blind Piper and Tinahely winner Nelson’s Rock.

UNITED HUNT (F) CLONMULT / DUNGOURNEY at Boulta on 08th Dec 2019

First Race: 11:00
Number of Entries: 148
Admission: €8

A big galloping track, Boulta, which is also a popular schooling grounds, first held a point-to-point in 2002, and offers a real test of a horse with just over two and-a-half laps of the course to be completed in all three-mile races.

With 148 horses entered, Liam Dunleavy from the United Hunt informed us that everybody is looking forward to a great days racing.

“Preparations are well underway, the fences are in. The weather has been dry all week, so we think the ground conditions will be perfect for Sunday.

"We are very happy with the entry and we might have a divide, although a lot of horses are double entered. We hope the weather on the day will be pleasant enough for the people who come.

"Our committee will be providing, tea and coffee along with sandwiches, which will be available in one of the sheds located next to the track.”
