Video Archives | Tinahely January 2001

Over the coming weeks, we will be adding videos to some of the old point-to-point fixtures that we have on file.  The next year we are adding videos from is the 2001 season.

The first fixture we are adding is the Shillelagh & Districts point-to-point at Tinahely in January 2001.

Below gives a brief re-cap of what happened on the day.

The opening race at the Shillelagh & Districts point-to-point fixture was claimed by Tenshookmen in the hands of Willie Codd who also trained the seven-year-old son of Cardinal Flower.

Tenshookmen enjoyed a successful career under rules, when five times including the Kerry Pertoleum Chase at the Listowel Festival and five times between the flags.

Ruby Gate and Dermot Whelan ran out a three-length winner of the five and six-year-old geldings maiden.

Forgeside Express came home in front of the six-year-old mares maiden in the hands of Pat Cloke.  Their victory was made easier with the exit of Coolgarrow and Fishin Rhyme at the final fence.

Orlando Magic showed good battling qualities when coming home strongly to deny Moral Justice by half a length in the winners of one contest.

The penultimate race, the seven and eight-year-old geldings maiden saw another great finish with Jump For Fun and PGD Murphy just holding on from Ballyknokan Lad.

The concluding race, the seven and eight-year-old mares maiden saw a three-way battle from the last with Pats Darling and Gordon Elliott getting their head in front close home.
