Video Archives | Castletown-Geoghegan November 2001

Over the coming weeks, we will be adding videos to some of the old point-to-point fixtures that we have on file.  The next year we are adding videos from is the 2001 season.

The Westmeath Foxhounds point-to-point at Castletown-Geoghegan in 2001 is the next meeting to be added to our video archives.

Below gives a brief re-cap of what happened on the day.

J D Moore got off to a good start when winning the opening mares open at the Westmeath Foxhounds point-to-point fixture at Castletown-Geoghegan aboard Kerrys Cross. Kerrys Cross won six point-to-point races in total.

Johann Sebastian and Gordon Elliott were impressive winners of the winners of two contest when staying on well for a comprehensive victory over Ballincara.

It was a quick double for Gordon Elliott when winning the four and five-year-old geldings maiden aboard Supreme Justice.

John Thomas McNamara was seen at his best when winning the four and five-year-old geldings maiden aboard Tristan Ludlow.

It was a thrilling finish to the four and five-year-old mares maiden with Tell Me See and John Burke coming home well to deny Howaya Pet and Gordon Elliott on the line.

Notabadskin supplied John Thomas McNamara with his second winner of the afternoon when running out an impressive victory of the six-year-old and upwards maiden. The Cecil Ross owned and trained gelding carved out a successful career as a top hunter chaser.

Division two of the six-year-old and upwards geldings maiden was claimed by Just Open House in the hands of champion hurdle winning trainer Colm Murphy.

Liam Lennon claimed the division three of the six-year-old and upwards maiden aboard Glynn Dingle who stayed well from before the last to score by a comfortable eight-lengths.

The concluding race of the day, the six-year-old and upwards mares maiden was won in good fashion by Merry Laughter and Norman Geraghty.
