Video Archives | Loughbrickland November 2001

Over the coming weeks, we will be adding videos to some of the old point-to-point fixtures that we have on file.  The next year we are adding videos from is the 2001 season.

The County Down Staghounds point-to-point fixture at Loughbrickland, is the final meeting we are adding from 2001.

Below gives a brief re-cap of what happened on the day.

Howaya Pet and Gordon Elliott claimed the opening five and six-year-old mares maiden at the County Down Staghounds point-to-point fixture at Loughbrickland for trainer Gerry Keane. Howaya Pet is the Dam of Doing Fine who won five races under rules for Neil Mulholland.

Division two of the five-year-old mares maiden was won in good fashion by Not A Bother Tohim in the hands of Eamon Magee.

Leo Gracey guided Hume Castle to land the four and five-year-old geldings maiden.  The pair stayed on gamely on the run-in for a four-length victory over Silent Partner.

Ballyconnell showed a good turn of foot when picking well from the last to get up and deny Lobbingalong by a neck close home.

Tenpoundsworth added another victory to his tally when claiming the open lightweight in good style in the hands of Leo Gracey making it a double on the day for Gracey.

The seven-year-old and upwards mares maiden was won in good style by Bregagh Lass and Simon McGonagle.

Leo Gracey completed a treble on the day when winning the six-year-old and upwards geldings maiden aboard Royal Town.

Shanrod View and James Smyth took the concluding six-year-old and upwards geldings maiden.  The pair had to work hard in the closing stages to deny the late challenge of Only Once and Leo Gracey.
