Video Archives | Maralin 2003

Over the coming weeks, we will be adding videos to some of the old point-to-point fixtures that we have on file.  The next year we are adding videos from is the 2003 season.

The next fixture to be added to the video archive section is the Iveagh Hunts point-to-point fixture at Maralin.

Below is a re-cap of what happened on the day.

False Tail
and John Thomas McNamara were impressive winners of the opening Adjacent Hunt Race at Maralin when coming home in front, eight lengths clear of their nearest rival Kilifi Creek.

Mocharamor and Brian Hamilton landed the five-year-old geldings maiden, the pair kept on gamely from the last to register a five length victory over Changed Times.

Finoel was an easy winner of the open lightweight when running out a 25-length victory under of guidance of Tommy Peoples.

It was an exciting conclusion to the six and seven-year-old mares maiden with the judge unable to separate Ellegar’s Cross and Gordon Elliott and Marrasit and William Rankin with a dead heat being called.

Robert Patton was in the winners’ enclosure when taking division one of the eight-year-old and upwards maiden aboard Better Blue.

Shandarr supplied Gordon Elliott with his second winner of the afternoon when winning division two of the eight-year-old and upwards maiden. Their victory was helped with the late exit of Boys O Boys and Brian Hamilton at the final fence.

The concluding race of the day, the five and six-year-old geldings maiden provided spectators with a thrilling finish, with a three-way battle between Ultramoderne, Drumnavaddy Lough and Drumcullenallstar with the latter just holding on.  Ultamoderne and William Rankin did very well to keep the partnership intact when making a bad mistake at the last.
