Goffs and Tattersalls Coordinate Revised Store Sales Dates

Goffs and Tattersalls have worked together to produce a revised sales schedule for the delayed 2020 NH Store sales in Ireland and Britain.

Crucially, the new schedule will allow vendors sufficient time to quarantine between the Goffs UK’s Summer Sale and the Irish Store sales at Goffs and Tattersalls Ireland in compliance with Irish Government quarantine requirements.

A two week gap between sales in the UK and Ireland has been agreed to give adequate time for Irish vendors to return from England and quarantine before they head to Kildare for the Goffs Land Rover Sale and then to Fairyhouse for the Tattersalls Ireland Derby and May Sales. The Tattersalls Ireland August Sale will follow at the end of the month.

•    Goffs UK Summer Sale in Doncaster – Monday 27th to Wednesday 29th July
•    Goffs Land Rover Sale in Kildare – Wednesday 12th and Thursday 13th August
•    Tattersalls Ireland Derby Sale in Fairyhouse – Tuesday 18th and Wednesday 19th August
•    Tattersalls Ireland May Sale in Fairyhouse – Thursday 20th  August
•    Tattersalls Ireland August NH Sale in Fairyhouse – Thursday 27th and Friday 28th August

In a joint statement Tattersalls Chairman, Edmond Mahony and Henry Beeby, Goffs Group Chief Executive said:

The bloodstock community, like the rest of the world, is having to adapt and react quickly to an ever evolving situation caused by this awful pandemic. However we have come together to make these changes to assist the vendors who have entries in more than one Goffs and Tattersalls catalogue, and need to attend several locations.

The revised dates allow the Doncaster sale to be completed and be followed by an appropriate gap before sales take place in Ireland. Both companies are mindful of current Government directives and have developed detailed protocols to ensure the safety and well-being of all attendees at each sales venue”.

The Auction Houses are also working with HRI in an effort to ensure the safe participation of overseas buyers at Irish sales within the parameters of current Irish Government quarantine requirements.

We recognise the concern surrounding the participation of overseas buyers and are working with HRI to deliver protocols to allow UK purchasers to attend future sales within Irish Government directives. To that end we have developed detailed protocols, similar to those which apply at Irish race meetings, to guarantee a safe environment on Irish sales grounds which are well suited to social distancing. We will communicate any developments as soon as possible and in plenty of time for plans to be confirmed

Tattersalls Ireland and Goffs will also facilitate a small number of entries from the Derby and Land Rover Sales at the Goffs UK Summer Sale in a joint supplementary catalogue.

This will be confined to UK domiciled stores from either catalogue as well as a very limited number from vendors with major logistical difficulties associated with the proximity of the flat yearling sales.

Applications for reassignment to the Goffs UK Summer Sale must be made to the Sales Company in whose catalogue the original entry was made and numbers will by necessity be limited owing to the date constraints imposed by the current quarantine requirements in Ireland.

Mahony and Beeby concluded:

We would like to emphasise that our joint decision to accommodate a limited number of extra store horses in the Goffs UK Summer Sale is in response to unique circumstances and taken in the best interests of as many of our mutual vendors as possible. So many of us are encountering situations that we have never faced before, but Tattersalls and Goffs are committed to working collaboratively in a determined effort to deliver the most vibrant market place we possibly can for each horse entrusted to us. This will include a jointly branded supplementary catalogue for the Doncaster Summer Sale, some coordinated marketing and perhaps even a new face on the Doncaster rostrum on this occasion.”
