Video Archives | Sligo 2004

Over the coming weeks, we will be adding videos to some of the old point-to-point fixtures that we have on file.  The next year we are adding videos from is the 2004 season.

The Co Sligo (H) at Sligo racecourse is the next meeting to be added to the archive section from 2004.

Below is a re-cap of what happened on the day.

The opening race at Sligo, division one of the four and five-year-old geldings maiden was won in good style by Fort Royal in the hands of Brian Hamilton for handler James Lambe.

Gordon Elliott and Harry The Dealer took division two of the four and five-year-old gelding maiden when running out a four length victory over Another Alliance and Brian Hassett.

The four and five-year-old mares maiden was won by Carrigden Lady and C J Moran. Ciaran is a brother of former Eastern Champion rider Robbie Moran.

The open lightweight saw an impressive winner in the form of Victor Sherlock who ran out a 12 length victory in the hands of Bobby McNally.

Gordon Elliott registered his second winner of the afternoon when coming home in front in the winners of one contest aboard Ferryport House.

Brian Hassett found his way to the winners enclosure when winning the six-year-old and upwards mares maiden aboard Julias Love

Division one of the six-year-old and upwards geldings maiden saw Mac Robin come in front for a six length victory over Uncle Frank in the hands of Richie Cully.

Richie Cully moved to Australia the following year where he carved out a successful career riding many winners including the Australian Grand National aboard Wells. Cully announced his retirement from the saddle in February and is now training from his base at Ballarat Turf Club.

The concluding race of the day, division two of the six-year-old and upwards geldings maiden was won by Kildoire with Rory Lavery in the saddle.
