PREVIEW | South Union (F) at Kinsale - Saturday

The first of three visits to Kinsale this season could see Macs Legend win the open on this card for the second year running.

Race 1 – 4YO Maiden

Having sent out their first winner of the season in a similar event at Tattersalls last Sunday, GARCON DARGENT could continue that winning form in this age division as he went close in Dromahane at the back end of last season, beating subsequent winner Crypto Currency by seven lengths in the process.

Dogem By Design represents another stable that were in the winners enclosure last weekend and he finished fourth in Moira on his debut which he can build on.

Race 2 – 5YO Geldings Maiden

This has a very open look to it and it may be worth turning to one of the newcomers such as VIKINGS WAY who has an eye-catching pedigree being a full-brother of Vanillier, the winner of the Grade 1 Albert Bartlett Novices Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival in March.

Of those with form, Likable Rogue is a 90-rated hurdler that has a number of respectable pieces of track form to his name, whilst Your Own Story stepped up from his debut in a bumper to finish fourth at Ballindenisk last term.

Race 3 – Open

MACS LEGEND recorded his most recent success in this race last year and this would look an even easier option for him to kickstart his new campaign at the age of 13.

We have not seen a lot of All Hell Let Loose of late but if he could recapture some of his points form from 2019 which saw him finish second on five starts on the bounce, he could be the most likely danger.

Race 4 – 5YO+ Mares Maiden

The 85-rated hurdler RULE OF JUNE is an interesting contender here as she returns back to the pointing fields following a number of respectable efforts on the track.

Rose Of Coolbally is the obvious threat if bouncing back to her Dromahane debut performance, however like Rucinski, she has alternative options this weekend.

Race 5 – Winner of One

Despite having not been seen for 11 months, STRIKING OUT could be worth following on his return to action as he beat four subsequent maiden winners when opening his account at Turtulla last November it what would look the standout piece for form. Chato Santana and Susie Miller, two recent maiden winners, do have the advantage of recent race fitness which makes this an interesting contest.

Race 6 – 6YO+ Geldings Maiden

SUM IT UP had seemed destined for the runners-up spot prior to his final fence departure at Castletown-Geoghegan and that recent run could give him the edge over I Often Wonder who has not been seen since he chased home Boro Melody at this venue last December.

Portrush third Five Dollar Fine is another that cannot be discounted following his career best effort last time out.
