Video Archives | Oldcastle 2002

Over the coming weeks, we will be adding videos to some of the old point-to-point fixtures that we have on file.  The next year we are adding videos from is the 2002 season.

The next meeting to be added to our video archive section is the Ballymacad Foxhounds point-to-point at Oldcastle.

Below is a re-cap of what happened on the day.

The opening race at the Ballymacad Foxhounds point-to-point, the four-year-old maiden saw an impressive winner in Our Vic who ran out an eight length victory in the hands Tony Costello.

Our Vic subsequently joined the David Pipe team and had a very successful career under rules for owner David Johnson,  including winning the Grade 1 Ryanair Chase and the Cheltenham Festival.  He won 13 races in total under rules.

The Blacksmith and Alan Fleming took the winners of one contest when coming in front for a three length victory over Thyneforfryup.

Nikki Sell partnered Soon Be Back to land the ladies open in good style.  The pair stayed on gamely for a five length victory over The Tollah and Claire MacMahon.

The adjacent maiden was won by Kilquire in the hands of Gordon Elliott.

JD Moore registered a double on the day, his first winner came courtesy of Coonogue who ran out a 20-length winner.

The opening division of the seven-year-old and upwards maiden was won by Drumking with Brian Hamilton in the saddle.

Topgallant supplied Moore with his second winner of the afternoon when taking division two of the seven-year-old and upwards geldings maiden.
