Video Archives | Necarne October 2002

Over the coming weeks, we will be adding videos to some of the old point-to-point fixtures that we have on file.  The next year we are adding videos from is the 2002 season.

The Fermanagh Harriers held their first meeting of the 2002-03 season at Necarne in October.

Below is a re-cap of what happened on the day.

Brass Farthing was a fortunate winner of the opening four and five-year-old mares with leader Scolboa and Aidan Fitzgerald falling at the last and leaving the way clear for Davy Russell.

Mee Lord
and Patrick Cosgrave ran out an easy winner of the six-year-old geldings maiden.

William Rankin registered his first winner of the season when winning aboard Mister Friday to claim the four and five-year-old geldings maiden.

Genorimo Murphy and Paul McAleese stayed on well in the closing stages to land the open lightweight.

The six-year-old and upwards mares maiden saw a good winner in Deerpark Gale who came home by four lengths in the hands of Damian Lavery.

The concluding race of the race, the seven-year-old and upwards gelding maiden was won by Hi Mac in the hands of Paddy Young. Jockey Paddy Young went on to have a successful career in the US.  He was crowned champion jockey on five occasions.  His wife Leslie Young is also a successful trainer in the US.
