Saturday's Ormond fixture will get the new point-to-point season off in style having attracted a bumper entry of 160 horses, including many well-known names in the day's highlight, the open lightweight.
Race 1 - Tattersalls Ireland 4yo Mares Maiden
CRAFTMANSDAUGHTER is the only horse in here with previous experience to her name, where she finished fifth to Chosen Port at Ballycahane in March.
That experience will stand to her here, however there are a number of nicely bred individuals amongst the group of newcomers that would have to be respected.
Race 2 - Dungar Quality Oats & Liffey Mills 4yo Geldings Maiden
The Westerner gelding SLIEVEGAR was sent off as the favourite for his introduction back in the Spring at Tinahely, and whilst he was unable to converter that into a winning debut, it was a respectable effort.
Carrolls Cottage brings the other piece of noteworthy form having finished fourth on his one and only previous outing at Ballycahane in early March. Many of the newcomers come from leading yards and will likely offer some of the greatest of opposition.
Race 3 - Aidan Fitzgerald and Sam Curling 5 & 6YO Mares Maiden
Track import KNOCKANORA LADY has a mark of 80 over hurdles and she had made the frame on a number of occasions including in a big field handicap at Punchestown on New Years Eve and so this first outing between the flags could see her open her account.
Kashmir Wilde is another track exile with four placed efforts to her name, however as she has not been seen in over a year, it may fall to the likes of Call Me Merry, Cloneyhurke Maid or Lady KK to over the chief opposition.
Race 4 - Clifton Farms 5YO Geldings Maiden
A close second on Good ground at Rathcannon in Spring 2019, MONTY GUIRY ran very respectively at Portrush in what proved to be a red-hot maiden won by subsequent bumper scorer Ballyadam. Although he has not been seen since, he has some strong form in the book and would look the likely standard bearer.
Colin Bowe has a number of horses engaged here that were knocking on the door throughout last season such as Pay The Piper and Tommys Oscar who are not far from getting their heads in front, whilst Fully Authorised is another that cannot be discounted.
Race 5 - B L Swagger & Seymour Kenny Open
Twelfth in the Foxhunters at the Cheltenham Festival back in March, ARCTIC SKIPPER could make his return to action in a race that has drawn a big entry by Open standards. A six-time winner between the flags last season, he will look to restart the season on the right foot.
Samanntom did not have conditions in his favour last season, and only managed one outing, but he is a nine-time winner in this grade and is sure to be a threat alongside Marinero, Better B Quick, Some Are Lucky, former Champion Longhouse Music and who had a promising return at Downpatrick last month which will stand to him.
Race 6 - Cashel Fine Arts Peter Curling 6YO Maiden
With two second placed efforts to his name, this could be an opportunity for REINVENT to open his account as it looks an open race with General Ryan Tipp Away and First Revolution others that could figure if putting their best foot forward.
