SUMMARY

• Monday 31st January sees the Dungarvan fixture get ’66 underway.
• The Duhallow fixture at Kanturk on Wedensday 15th May finished the season
• Title number six for W.A.McLernon with a fine score of twenty.
• Yet again Helen Bryce Smyth comes out as the leading lady.
• R.Martin has a healthy score of nine. 63 winners was his overall score. Along with been a leading Northern rider right through to the eighties he partnered Call Collect to Cheltenham and Liverpool successes
• Capt D G Swan gets among the winners and his son Charlie was to make his impression on Irish racing

SUMMARY

• By 1967 the season was beginning to extend even further. The start date of the 30th January was no earlier than usual but the final fixture was on the 20th May with the Kilmoganny & Clonmel Harriers at Clonmel.
• Title number two for Connie Vaughan but this was a record setting number seven for W.A. McLernon who was taking his last title.
•  Only two behind was the leading lady Jean Moore who took a treble with the last three winners at Dromoland on the 27th March..
• M.Berry rides four of the five winners at the Wexford meet at Lingstown on the 27th March
• On the 4th of April A.L.T. Moore had his first ride on a horse called Siam for his Father Dan in a Novices race at Gowran at the Kilkenny’s fixture. The pair won by three lengths. A certain T.M.Walsh rode the third horse. Arthur subsequently became one of the leading NH trainers with Soft Day, Native Upmanship & Klairon Davis among his many leading performers. His son JD was the Eastern title winner in 2003

SUMMARY

• There was a very late start to the ’68 season with the first fixture not held until Saturday 2nd March by the South Tyrone Hunt at Stewartstown
• The final fixture was later than usual on the 22nd May held by the Killeagh Hunt
• D. O’Rourke takes his first and only title with fifteen winners.
• T.M. Walsh gets off the mark with two winners. The first came aboard his father Ruby Walsh’s Wise Check on Wednesday 17th April at the North Kilkenny meeting at Gowran by three lengths. There were 141 more to follow. After that a training career with horses such as Grand National winners Papillon and Comanche Court. His son Ruby managed one point to point winner before going on to be Champion Jockey.

SUMMARY

• Wednesday the 5th February at Killossera saw the ’69 season get underway.
• Wednesday the 14th May at Bartlemy saw the United Hunt hold the final fixture
• I.Williams took the top spot with 14 winners three clear of two of the finest point to point riders of all time. Willie Rooney and Billy McLernon who have more titles and winners between them than any other riders.
• 1969 was a god year for first winners.
• Jim Dreaper son of Arkle’s trainer Tom scored his first victory on Black Secret at the Westmeath Foxhounds fixture at Culleen Mullingar on Wednesday 12th March by six lengths
• On the 1st March at Innishannon the Carbery Foxhounds fixture saw Timmy O’Callaghan take his first winner aboard Brown Bonnet by a length. 173 more winners would follow.
• Two days later on the 3rd March at Palmerstown in Dublin at the Ward Union & Fingal Harriers meeting Ivan Keeling scored his first winner aboard Kells Pride by three lengths. 96 more winners would follow for Keeling
• North of the Border J.F.C. Maxwell took his first winner at the East Down fixture at Tyrella aboard Mr W Bell’s Casquette beating Hillhead by two lengths. Subsequently a leading Northern trainer Jeremy now stands Synefos near Downpatrick racecourse.
• Another leading Northern trainer Ian Ferguson also got off the mark in ’69. He was to train top pointer Joe Blake in 2002
