SUMMARY
• 1982 saw a nineteen year old Tom Costello take the title for the first time. It was a tightly fought contest and only one winner separated himself and Nicky Dee 21-20. The young Costello was also the recipient of the Novice title
• Compenation for Dee came in the form of the Munster title
• Ted Walsh took the Leinster award and shared the honours in Connaught with Brian Murphy
• Raymond Martin rider of Call Collect took the Munster award
