TRACK GUIDE

The course at Turtulla first saw point-to-point racing take place during the autumn 2017 campaign, as the latest course for the Golden Vale's, a hunt which have hosted racing at a number of venues including Thurles Racecourse.

Beginning on the entrance to the back straight, there is a short run to the first fence before heading through a gap to continue their run slightly downhill along the back straight. This straight curves gently before fence two, the final fence in the back straight, with a shorter run to the home straight.

In total three fences are jumped in the home straight, with a gentle climb to the line. The first fence is jumped somewhat in isolation to the following two fences, which are positioned closer together, with the winning post located just passed the parade ring after that third and final obstacle.

DEREK O'CONNOR

Turtulla can actually ride a little bit tight despite racing over less than three circuits.

I find the bends ride a bit sharp and the fences come up quite quickly, especially in the home straight.

You need a forward going horse and I think it is good to be handy. A good jumper with a bit of experience would be ideal around here.
