Bumper entry at Boulta results in early start time

For the second Sunday in succession, the large entry that has been received for a point-to-point, has resulted in the start time being brought forward.

Sunday’s rescheduled West Waterford (F) point-to-point at Boulta in Co. Cork, will now get underway 30 minutes earlier than had originally been scheduled due to the second largest entry of the season.

The first race, the four-year-old mares’ maiden, will now get underway at 10.30am.

A total of 175 entries have been received for what is the second Sunday of racing at Boulta, and it included a potentially top drawer open lightweight, which has attracted an entry of 31 horses.

That race is headlined by what could be the point-to-point debut of Gordon Elliott’s Ucello Conti, who was strongly fancied for last season’s Aintree Grand National – unshipping four-out having been sent off as a 16/1 shot.

Coming into what could be his open debut with a track rating of 147, he finished second in the Paddy Power Chase at Leopardstown 12 months ago.
He could be joined by other high-class track recruits such as 2015 Irish National winner Thunder And Roses, and Ttebbob, who has now joined Willie Mullins.

Last Sunday’s Borris House scorer Longhouse Music, a four-time winner this season also features among the line-up, whilst the reigning champion pointer, Sydney Paget, could also begin his title defence here.
