Four-timer for Coolmore stallions at Kildorrery Point-to-Point

Coolmore stallions Oscar, Getaway, Milan and Westerner sired a winner a piece at the point-to-point last Sunday in Kildorrery.

Oscar

The retired Coolmore stallion Oscar sired the winner of the first division of the five-and-six-year-old mares' maiden at Kildorrery when the Mark Michael McNiff-trained Arthurs Baby made a winning seasonal debut under John Barry.

Oscar was the leading sire at the Cheltenham Festival in 2018. The sire also recorded 19 point to point winners last season and has 12 point to point wins to date this season.

Oscars point-to-point progeny includes the Donald McCain trained Peddlars Cross. The bay gelding won on his debut start in Liscarroll as a four-year-old for handler Thomad O'Meara. Donald McCain and High Fligher Bloodstock subsequently purchased the gelding for €100,000.

Getaway

Getaway sired the winner of the second division of the five-and-six-year-old mares' maiden when Getaway Totherock secured success for Eugene O'Sullivan on Sunday.

From the family of multiple group one winner's Alexander Goldrun and Goldikova, the sire is the second most winning point sire this season with 13 wins to date.

The stallions point-to-point progeny also includes the grade two winning Getabird trained by Willie Mullins and owned by Rich Ricci. The gelding won his second point start in April 2016 at Largy for handler Colin Bowe and subsequently went on to be purchased by Harold Kirk and Willie Mullins for €200,000.

Getaway Katie is another Getaway sired point-to-point graduate to have success on the track. The brown mare won her debut start at Lemonfield in March 2017 for John Queally and has gone on to become a grade two winner on the track for J.P. Mcmanus and Declan Queally.

Fee for 2019: €7,500

Milan

The Milan gelding Groody Rover, trained by Philip Fenton, recorded an emphatic 12-length victory in the five-year-old geldings' maiden in Kildorrery.

The son of Saddlers Wells sired 25 point-to-point winners last season and has sired 10 to date this season.

Milan's point progeny also includes the Albert Bartlett Novices Hurdle winner Martello Tower, trained by Margaret Mullins. The Bay gelding won his debut point-to-point at Ballyragget in the five-year-old geldings maiden in 2013.

Fee for 2019: €8,000

Westerner

The Declan Queally-trained and ridden Givemylovetorosie posted her fourth success of the season when securing a five-length victory in the winner of three race at Kildorrery.

The son of Danehill is a five-time group one winner and a proven sire of grade one winners. The stallion recorded ten point-to-point winners last season and has seven wins to date this season.

Westerner's point-to-point progeny also includes the Colin Bowe-trained Ferny Hollow who went for £300,000 at the Tattersalls Cheltenham February Sale last week after winning his debut start in the four-year-old maiden at Knockanard earlier this month. Harold Kirk and Willie Mullins purchased the impressive 15-length winner.

The grade one winner Western Warhorse is also a Westerner sired point-to-point graduate. The bay gelding won his debut start as a four-year-old for Colin Bowe at Affane in November 2012. Rodger Brookhouse subsequently purchased the gelding for €130,000. Western Warhorse is now a grade one winner trained by David Pipe.
