12 horses set to take part in the Tetratema Hunter Chase on Saturday.

There are 12 horses declared for the Mullinavat GAA Club Fundraiser Tetratema Perpetual Cup at Gowran Park. This is a much improved turn-out for the €15,000 contest as only five runners faced the starter in last season’s renewal.

Fenno’s Storm will certainly have a tough task ahead of him if he is to defend his crown in the 3m1f contest. However Declan Queally’s charge comes into the contest in fine form, having finished in the first two on three of his four starts this season. The son of September Storm will be ridden by Richie Deegan for the first occasion on Saturday.

Interestingly Macs Legend got the better off the afore mentioned Fenno’s Storm when they last met at Kildorrery. The likable five-time winner has already won two Hunter Chase’s last season and Gerry Kelleher’s charge could go close here under the in-form Michael O’Sullivan.

Thunder And Roses is a former Irish Grand National winner and has shaped well on his three start for Ross O’Sullivan since reverting to the point-to-point/hunter chase sphere. The 11-year-old could be an interesting contender in the race with Tom Hamilton on board this time.

Dual Cheltenham Foxhunters winner Salsify is certainly in the veteran stages of his career at 14, but to his credit the son of Beneficial ran well when placed at Navan three weeks ago.

Jim Dreaper is no stranger to success in this sphere and the Greenogue handler saddles Sizing Coal here. The 11-year-old enters the contest in winning form, after taking an open at Farmaclaffley recently. Having got the better of Fenno’s Storm in the Joseph O’Reilly last season, Jamie Codd’s mount is sure to have a big chance here.

Cork hunter chase winner Carrignagapple and former champion pointer Anseanachai Cliste are also amongst the declarationsm, while Billaway, Cle En Main, Donjon, Enniskillen and Loggan Lady complete the line-up.
