Willie and Patrick Mullins combined to land the Boardsmill Sires Maiden Hunters Chase at Downpatrick with market principle Billaway.
The son of Well Chosen who was never too far off the pace took up the lead approaching two out then showed a nice turn of foot when quickening clear on the run-in to deny Tareeshar and Declan Lavery by 17 lengths.
The lightly raced seven-year-old won his point-to-point maiden at Ballinaboola for handler Tracey Gilmour and was subsequently sold to Harold Kirk and Willie Mullins for £50,000 at the Chelenham January Sales.
He finished second in two bumpers before returning to pointing company this season having had two solid efforts in Hunters Chases behind Ucello Conti and Fenno’s Storm respectively.
