Getaway secures his first Leading Sire Title

Coolmore stallions took the top four placings in this year's Leading Sire Title with Getaway having 35 winners, Milan was second with 30 winners, Gold Well was third with 28 wins and last year's winner Flemensfirth finished up in fourth place with 22 winners.

Four stallions, Presenting, Sholokhov, Stowaway and Yeats were tied for fifth with a total of 19 winners.

The winning sire, who was a Group 1 winner over 1m4f in Germany retired to stud in 2011. At the age of 16 he now stands at Grange Stud for a 2019 fee of €7,500.

Deploy The Getaway, another four-year-old handled by Donnchadh, caught the eye when running out a 20-length winner at Tallow. Harold Kirk and Willie Mullins subsequently purchased the bay gelding for £200,000.

While Sporting John secured success in one of the most competitive four-year-old maidens of the season when coming out on top at Borris House for Matthew Flynn O'Connor under the guidance of Jimmy O'Rourke. Kieran McManus subsequently purchased this gelding for £160,000 at the Tattersalls Cheltenham Festival sale.
