Video Archive | Ballon January 2000

Over the coming weeks, we will be adding videos to some of the old point-to-point fixtures that we have on file.  We are starting with the 2000 videos. 

The next fixture we look at is the Carlow Farmers which had their meeting at Ballon in January 2000.  It was a busy day at the Wexford track which resulted in 10 races.
 
Below gives a brief re-cap of what happened on the day. 
 
The opening contest the ladies open saw Aileen Sloane Lee come home in front aboard Indian Wings.
 
Brandy Galore and Denis Cullen combined to land the six-year-old geldings maiden.
 
Division two of the six-year-old geldings maiden was claimed by Dramatic Approach and JD Moore.
 
Peter Buchanan made his journey worthwhile when winning the six-year-old mares maiden aboard Oak Lodge.
 
The successful combination of It’s Himself and Tony Martin won the open lightweight by two and a half lengths.
 
The mares open was won by Mandy Chat in the hands of the now trainer John Berry. 
 
Riverfort and Willie Codd took division two of the Mares Open by a length and a half. 
 
Chance Franco was an impressive winner of the seven-year-old and upwards geldings maiden when storming home by 13 lengths in the hands of Tom Cloke.
 
Division two of the seven-year-old and upwards geldings maiden saw another impressive winner in Scoby Pride who ran out a 15 length victory over Tuarean Son.
 
Brian Hamilton took the concluding division of the seven-year-old and upwards geldings maiden aboard Tollymore Road.
