Champions Crowned | Foxhunters hero is Champion Hunter Chaser

Cheltenham Foxhunter hero It Came To Pass was named as this season's Champion Hunter Chaser.

The Eugene O’Sullivan-handled gelding achieved his first success of the season when winning a hunters chase at Cork in November.  The 10-year-old had to battle hard on that occasion to see off the challenge of Wrong Direction by a head.

However, his two other outings at Down Royal and Kilfeacle saw him run a little below par.

The son of Brian Boru then went to Cheltenham and showed his true class when running out a ten-length victor of the prestigious Cheltenham Foxhunters in the hands of his regular pilot Maxine O’Sullivan.

Eugene O’Sullivan purchased It Came To Pass from Jim Culloty on the recommendation from his good friend John Linehan and he was then sold to Alurie & Gerald O’Sullivan, who are no relations, but big supporters of the yard for over 25 years.

It Came To Pass started his career with Jim Culloty when winning his point-to-point maiden at Ballindenisk in the hands of Brian Linehan.  He then won the Limerick Christmas Hunters Chase by 15 lengths.

He enjoyed a brief stint on the track before joining the O’Sullivan team after a two year lay-off.

He has now won three point-to-points and five hunters chases and received his career high rating of 135 at this years’ Cheltenham Festival.
