Champions Crowned | Lalor, O'Sullivan & McElligott share Ladies Title

This years’ shortened point-to-point season saw a three-way tie between, Liz Lalor, Maxine O’Sullivan and Moira McElligott for the Ladies Title.
 
This was Liz Lalors eighth time to win the coveted award.  Lalor who is edging closer to equalling Helen Bryce-Smith’s record (109 winners) for all-time victories for a lady-rider is now only two winners behind.

Lalor rode her three winners for three different handlers - Declan Queally, Tom Keating and Enda Bolger.
Her first winner of the season came courtesy of Fenno’s Storm at Moig South when winning the Ladies Open. 

Tom Keating gave Lalor her second winner of the campaign aboard Shuil Luas at Ballindenisk.

Lalor’s final winner of the season was at Nenagh in the Ladies Open where she guided the Enda Bolger trained Staker Wallace to victory.

Last years’ champion Maxine O’Sullivan, will be picking up her fourth Ladies Title this season.
O’Sullivan registered her three winners during the Autumn campaign. Her father Eugene was her biggest supporter supplying all three of her winners.
 
Kilcolman DJ gave O’Sullivan her first winner of the season when winning the Adjacent maiden at Dromhane. 

The O’Sullivan family made the journey to Lingstown all worthwhile with Super Citizen winning the winners of two contest.

Her most impressive winner of the season came aboard the exciting Coqolino who won the four-year-old maiden at Ballindenisk.

It was also a season to remember for the O’Sullivan Family as Maxine registered her first Cheltenham Festival winner aboard It Came To Pass in the Cheltenham Foxhunters, trained by her father Eugene.

This was veterinary surgeon Moira McElligott’s first time to win the Ladies Title. The Kerry native is also a talented boxer and has represented her country at European Boxing Championships.

Vinnies Nephue supplied McElligott with two of her three winners this season, trained by her husband Willie Murphy.

The son of Alkaadhem won his first race of the season at Knockmullen House in November, he then returned to that track in February to win the winner of three contest.

Daryl Deacon gave McElligott her third winner, with Call It Time winning the six-year-old and upwards novice riders race at Tattersalls.

Seven different lady riders rode winners this season, with successes for Aine O’Connor (2), Susie Doyle (2), Lisa O’Neill (1) and Sorcha Woods (1).
