Video Archives | Castletown-Geoghegan May 2000

Over the coming weeks, we will be adding videos to some of the old point-to-point fixtures that we have on file. We are starting with the 2000 videos.

The Westmeath Foxhounds and Longford Hunt point-to-point at Castletown-Geoghegan is the final meeting we are adding to the video archives from the 2000 season.

Below gives a brief re-cap of what happened on the day.

The opening race at Castletown-Geoghegan, the mares open provided spectators with a thrilling finish with Mandy Chat and Willie Codd coming out on top to defeat Fleanmore Lady and John Cullen.

The Gypsy Baron ran out an impressive winner of the four and five-year-old maiden when storming home for 12 length victory over Perfect Percy.

The six-year-old and upwards mares maiden was won in good fashion by Ashwell April, in the hands of Paul Cosgrave.

John Cullen was in the winners’ enclosure when landing the open lightweight aboard Barnamire Bay, the 11-year-old son of Great Eastern stayed on well to register a three-length victory over Friars Island.

It was a quick double for Wexford jockey John Cullen who also won the winners of three contest aboard Keltic Heritage.

Kildare native JD Moore also registered a double on the day when winning the concluding six and seven-year-old geldings maiden in a thrilling finish aboard Uncle Arthur.
