P2P Archive Videos | 1999

Over the summer months we have uploaded hundreds of videos from 1999-1989 to the site which can all be viewed by our members.

To find a fixture just go to ‘results’ and select the date of the meeting you wish to view or search the horse name, if we have the video the video icon will appear in green.

The first year we look at in our archive section is 1999.

1999 was a year where Davy Russell rode his first winner and went on to share the Novice Riders title with Simon McGonagle while John Thomas McNamara was the leading rider with 36 winners.

Elegant Lord was Champion Hunter Chaser and Caroline Hutchinson collected the ladies title.

There were first winners for Davy Russell, Mark O’Hare, Paul Tobin, David Broad, Liz Doyle, Mick Darcy, Clare MacMahon, Tim Doyle and Gina O’Callaghan.

We have uploaded almost 300 races from the 1999 season with thanks to the following Video providers and some of the highlights are listed below.

•    Irish Grand National winner Flashing Steel winning both at Ashford under Philip Fenton and Oldcastle under Caroline Hutchinson in the colours of Charles J Haughey.
•    The Ballon meeting in January 1999 sees Tom Cloke score aboard Lord Moose, Aidan Fitzgerald scoring on Riviera Dream, Anthony Ross winning on Twilight Buck and Tony Martin winning on Irish Stout. Also on the card Mark Cahill scored on Olympic Lady and Paul Crowley scored a double on Balaltrama and Bawn Beag
•    At Tyrella on January 30th Ian Buchanan won aboard Denfield while Bloodstock agent Kevin Ross scored aboard Fighting Fiddle. Brian Hamilton was successful aboard Colquhoun while Liam Lennon landed a double with Georges Brush and Zaffaran Dell
•    Southsea Native made a big impression in the North under Old Mills Robert Patton when scoring at Loughbrickland and Farmaclaffey
•    At Clonmel in February Mark Cahill scored on Mark Molloys prolific winner Instant Queen while Peter Henley scored twice including aboard Minella Silver for John Nallen.
•    At Killaloe Dermot Costello took the opener on Imperial Dawn
•    Former professional and now IRIS Cameraman John Cullen scored on Ballygobackwards at Ashford in February while Philip Fenton won aboard Sheltering in the older maiden before going on to become a top class Hunter Chaser.
•    At Gowran Park in March Johnny Berry scored on Over Familiar while Pat Colville steered Camden West to victory.
•    At Athenry in March David Broad won on Prince of Pleasure, Dermot Costello took the 4yo maiden on the useful Be My Manager, Fergus Hanley scored twice on Doctor Love and Leadnomore while Aongus McNamara won the Open on Digacre and the mares maiden went to Brian Moran on Carnmore Supreme.
•    Timmy Hyde won aboard Fishers Cross at Dundrum and also successful on the card was Colm Murphy aboard Ednaburu
•    Former Irish Grand National winner Son Of War won the Open at Castletown-Geoghegan under Andrew Coonan.
•    Jackie Kidd (Ferris) rode her first winner aboard Tullamore at Comber.
•    At Stradbally in April Vinny Devereux scored on Over Decent, John Berry scored twice on Indian Promise and Chalmers Place
•    At Tattersalls John O’Connell won on Benick while Townley Angel was aboard the successful Miss Agarbie
•    At Sligo Shane Donohue won the 4yo Maiden with Cregg House who went on to be a very smart sort winning at Aintree.
