Red letter day for Jet Away

Jet Away’s stocks keep rising with a red-letter day for the young stallion which saw his son Jet Powered top the Tattersalls Online NH & Point to Point Sale selling for 350,000gns to Anthony Bromley of Highflyer Bloodstock and his daughter Brandy Love score a facile ten length victory at Naas.

Jet Powered, a hugely impressive debut winner in a 4YO Geldings Maiden over three miles at Borris House last Sunday, was the subject of much interest in the online sale but it was ultimately Highflyer Bloodstock who was the highest bidder.

Purchaser Anthony Bromley commented; “He’s been bought for an established client of Nicky Henderson’s. The time of his Borris House win was excellent and he’s a fine stamp of a horse. We thought the female side of the pedigree was good and we really like the sire Jet Away.”

The price of 350,000gns also eclipsed the previous highest price for a Jet Away of £300,000 which was paid for the Hollymount in the Goffs UK January Sale.

“What a fantastic result!” exclaimed his former trainer Cormac Farrell. “He is the most gorgeous individual who is athletic and balanced. He has a bright future for his new connections and trainer Nicky Henderson.”

Less than 45 minutes after the virtual hammer fell on the sale of Jet Powered the Willie Mullins-trained Brandy Love scored a most impressive ten length victory in the Mares Maiden Hurdle (2m) at Naas.

The five-year-old daughter of Jet Away, herself a £200,000 Tattersalls Cheltenham graduate, travelled strongly on the lead under Paul Townsend and drew right away to a most effortless victory.

“Jet Away just does not let us down,” said Arctic Tack Stud’s Eoin Banville. “Each time we need him to deliver he steps up. People need to understand that this is only the beginning – his best and biggest books of mares are yet to come. What he has done to date far outweighs the opportunities he has had.”

Jet Away will stand the 2022 season for an on-application fee while he will be joined by first season sire Dee Ex Bee whose introductory fee is €3,5000 (fillies’ concession).
