WEEKEND PREVIEW: Ballysteen (Sunday)

Race 1: The Tattersalls Ireland Cheltenham Sale 4yo Maiden

Newcomers dominate this big field contest and it will be the market that gives the best indication of their chances. However of those who have experienced competitive action, GAMEFACE finished third at Loughanmore over Easter behind subsequent sales topper Malone Road, and all eyes will be primed on him to see how he fares in this. Uptown Harry was far from disgraced behind Andy Dufresne at Borris House, whilst the French-bred Monsieur Darque was only beaten 13 lengths on debut at Bellharbour.

Race 2: Goffs Punchestown Sale 5yo Geldings Maiden

GUN MERCHANT was sent off as the favourite for his debut at Durrow last month where he only found one horse too good on that occasion, suggesting that he is close to a maiden success. Chain Smoker is a slightly more experienced horse who was unlucky at Horse & Jockey, whilst the likes of Champagne Court, Alfie Corbitt, Road By The River and Hadmeathello are others that cannot be discounted in an open looking race.

Race 3: The Cois Sionna Credit Union Open

SYDNEY PAGET has been in scintillating form since the turn of the year and he will look to extend his winning run up to seven as part of his bid to add to his claims for the champion point-to-pointer title. Stable companion Samanntom put up a huge run against Ryanair Chase winner Uxizandre in the Barbour Cup and can uphold honours for the in-form Pat Doyle yard if the selection runs elsewhere, whilst Final Gift was among the winners at Quakerstown on his penultimate start.

Race 4: Enzos Cafe, P J Dore Pumps & Dovecote Restaurant 5yo+ Mares Maiden

DRUNKEN TATTOO carries the colours worn by none other than Samcro in his point-to-point success, and she made her debut in a very competitive contest at Borris House last month that has already produced a winner. Crystal Kate and Getaway Honey are two mares that chased home geldings in confined company last time, whilst Whatsdastory was only narrowly beaten on her latest outing and is sure to put up a bold bid.

Race 5: Davy Mann Winners Of Two

ARCTIC ROAD was delivered late to record a narrow success at Castletown-Geoghegan earlier in the month, and this could be a nice opportunity for him to double up. Baily Fox is proven in testing conditions having won his maiden at Cragmore and he will likely be suited by the drop back from open company last time where he finished a respectable second. Ajijic, a two-time winner already this season is another that cannot be discounted.

Race 6: The Top of the Town & Joshs Bar, Askeaton 6yo+ Geldings Maiden (Nov Rdrs)

MYOLDMAN and Dubai Dandy would seem closely matched on their latest outings, having both filled the runner-up position in recent weeks. Preference is given to the former who only narrowly lost out at Castletown-Geoghegan on what was his first start for over a year and he is sure to improve for the run.
