Fennos Storm retains his crown in the Tetratema

Declan Queally is enjoying a phenomenal year in the training ranks and his good run of form continued when he saddled the winner of the Mullinavat GAA Club Fundraiser Tetratema Perpetual Cup at Gowran Park on Saturday for the second year in a row.

The eight-year-old Fenno’s Storm followed up on last year’s success to take the 3m1f contest in impressive fashion, this time under Richie Deegan.

The now nine-time winner has been in fine form of late having finished in the first two, on three of his previous four starts this season and was well fancied to retain his crown here.

The son of September Storm appeared to appreciate the application of first-time blinkers and the eight-year-old made much of the running before beginning to pull clear from four-out.

The result never looked in doubt in the home straight, with the Maurice-Walsh-owned gelding just having to survive a slightly untidy jump at the last before recording a comfortable five and a half-length success.

Recent Ballinboola winner Cle En Main ran a huge race to finish second on his racecourse debut under Maxine O’Sullivan.

While the Willie Mullins-trained Billaway and Macs Legend filled the third and fourth spot respectively. The favorite Sizing Coal was somewhat disappointing when pulling up three-out under Jamie Codd.
