Mary Tyner to compete in Corinthian Challenge Charity Race Series 2019

Mary Tyner who is well known as a stalwart of the Cork & Waterford point-to-point scene, is competing in the Corinthian Challenge Charity Race Series 2019 in order to raise funds for the Injured Jockeys Fund in memory of her son Jack Tyner who sadly passed away following a heavy fall at Dungarvan point-to-point 8 years ago.

Mary is married to former champion handler Robert Tyner and the pair have five daughters. Their son Jack Tyner was tragically killed at just 19 in February 2011, following a heavy fall at the first in a mares’ maiden at Dungarvan. The Cork native had made a promising start to his career having ridden four winners’ between-the-flags and a further two under rules.

“I've created a page to help raise money for the Injured Jockeys Fund as part of the Corinthian Challenge 2019. I want to make a difference and remember my son Jack who sadly passed away in a Point-to-Point accident 8 years ago.

As part of the challenge, I will be making my return to the racecourse and riding over 3 top class racecourses. The first race will take place on the 21st of July at the recently redeveloped iconic Curragh Racecourse over 1.5 miles on the Irish Derby track.

The second leg will be held on the 1st of September at Cork racecourse over 1.5 miles and the final race will take place on the 21st of October over 1.25 miles at Leopardstown on the Irish Champions Stakes track.
I will be documenting my progress in preparation to ride in three races over the next five months, please keep an eye on my Facebook page to follow me on my journey.

Please help me help them by giving whatever you can by clicking here. The more people that know about Irish Injured Jockeys, the greater their impact, so please also spread the word by sharing my page with your friends and family. Thank you in advance for your generosity, it means a lot!”
