There are nine horses declared for the Mullinavat GAA Club Boylesports Tetratema Perpetual Cup at Gowran Park. Fennos Storm, who has won the last two renewals of the contest is once again set to line up, along with a host of other contenders that bring some sold form to the race.
Aloneamongmillions is yet to be defeated with a 100 % strike rate, having come out on top in all four of his starts to date and is very much in contention for Leading Horse, being just one win off the current leader Eddie’s Miracle. The son of Mahler’s most recent success came back at the beginning of February when he reeled in Cheltenham handicap chase winner Foxtail Hill at Bellharbour and eventually beat him by one-length. The seven-year-old will be opening his account in hunter chase company and will be aiming to preserve his unbeaten record here.
The Declan Queally-trained Fennos Storm has won the last two renewals of the Tetratema Cup and will be out to defend his crown here. The nine-year-old got his season off to a flying start when taking the ladies open at Moig South back in November and has run five times since then, coming close when placing in all of these contests. He could regain the winning thread here as he always seems to come back to form when running at Gowran.
Macs Legend was a dual hunter chase winner during the 2017/18 season and he once again found success in hunter chase company when scoring in very testing conditions at Thurles in February under Mikey O’Sullivan. The 12-year-old has won three out of his six starts this season and could follow up his most recent success with another win here. John Barry will be in the saddle this time around.
Some Man is another, who has been enjoying much success since returning between the flags from his stint under rules. The seven-year-old won the Clonmel hunter chase in January when beating Saint Benedict impressively by seven-lengths. He only finished fourth on his most recent run at Thurles, but the close relation of Cheltenham Gold Cup winner Denman could well return to his winning ways in this nine-runner field.
Sam Curling also sends out Wounded Warrior in this contest, the former Grade 2 winner has placed a handful of times this season, with his best effort coming back in January when finishing only three-and-a-half lengths behind the Shark Hanlon-trained Rewritetherules in an open race at Carrigarostig and could be open to improvement.
Oscar Contender, who is already a five-time winning gelding is looking to follow up his success at Knockard in February where he beat Fennos Storm by three lengths. The son of Oscar was third on his three other runs this season and could be one to watch out for. James Hannon is set to take the mount on the nine-year-old.
