Robert McCarthy Wins Breeder Award

Robert McCarthy of the Beeches Stud was the winners of the this years’ Weatherbys Ireland Breeders Award, having bred five individual winners of five races.

It was a quite a year for Robert McCarthy who also stands this years leading point-to-point sire Mahler.
It was dream start to the season for the leading breeder as he registered a double at new South Westmeath point-to-point track at Umma House in October.

His first winner of the afternoon came in form of Percy Warner (pictured above) who took the four-year-old geldings maiden for handler Gordon Elliott. He was subsequently sold to Basil Holian for €100,000 at the Tattersalls Cheltenham Sale in November.

Rosy Story supplied Robert McCarthy with his second winner of the afternoon when winning the five-year-old and upwards mares maiden for handler Paul Tobin.

Oh Dear Me was the breeders third winner of the Autumn campaign after she stormed home on first run of the season when registering a 15 length victory of the five-year-old and upwards mares maiden at Ballindenisk in November.

The winning breeders final two winners came during the Spring season with North Of Nashville who was an impressive winner on her debut, when running out a three length victory of the four-year-old mares maiden at Tipperary for handler Colin Bowe.

Coningbeg, the six-year-old daughter of Flemensfirth was the final winner of the season for The Beeches Stud breeder having won her maiden at Stradbally in the colours of her owner and trainer Micháel Bates.
