It’s All Guesswork and Samanntom, the first two horses home in last year’s open race, could once again renew rivalries as they feature among nine possible runners in Sunday’s open at Umma House.
Race 1 – Goffs UK Autumn Sale 4YO Mares Maiden
Having bypassed a couple of potential engagements on the opening weekend of the season, DIME STORE COWGIRL should be primed for this having finished second on her debut in Ballingarry at the end of last season.
Sleek N Chic travelled well for a long way on her debut at Oldcastle before weakening in the closing stages and should prove a more competitive force here, whilst Born Famous ran respectably on her debut in Tattersalls and could reproduce that.
Race 2 – Tattersalls Cheltenham 4YO Geldings Maiden
GARCON DARGENT finished seven lengths in front of subsequent winner Crypto Currency on his one and only competitive appearance to date when second at Dromahane in May, and with that form already having been boosted he could be the one to side with here.
Don’t Walk Away has options at each of this weekend’s three fixtures and is sure to be a threat wherever he appears having finished third on both previous outings, whilst Private Ryan is another with claims.
Race 3 – Hugh J Campbell & Co. Solicitors 5YO+ Maiden
SUSIE MILLER went close at Tipperary on her debut in the spring and could well have finished even closer but for a slow leap at the last, and she could bounce back to that form given that she represents the very much in-form Sam Curling team.
That Tipperary stable have had four winners and a second from just eight runners this season coming into the weekend. Ka Ching is back pointing following a couple of runs on the track but would be interesting on her narrow defeat at Stradbally, whilst Marriage Ring, Rucinski and Sadie Yeats are others for the shortlist.
Race 4 – Sean Shortall International Transport Open – Novice Riders
Its All Guesswork and SAMANNTOM, the first two home in this race last year could renew rivalries once again with the latter coming into this off an excellent third in Monksgrange.
The two horses who finished in front of him on that occasion have both won last weekend to suggest it is a notable piece of form and he could reverse last year’s form here.
Out Sam, stablemate of Its All Guesswork, rolled back the years to win at Castletown-Geoghegan on his first start in open company, whilst the former Irish National fourth Snugsborough Benny is an interesting addition to this sphere.
Race 5 – Brian Dunning Farrier Services & Sean Dunning Victuallers 5&6YO Geldings Maiden
This has a very open look to it and it may be worth taking a chance on SILVER FLYER following two luckless efforts last season which saw him fail to complete at Cork and Fairyhouse. He had offered promising signs prior to his respective departures in those races and could come out a better horse.
Of the others with form, Neon Nights and Konik King are not without hope on the best of their form, whilst the newcomers are worth a market check in a race like this.
Race 6 – O’Roarke Bros Ajacent Hunt Winners Race
BEYOND REDEMPTION more than had the measure of Subset prior to his final-fence departure at Oldcastle on his return and he could get deserved compensation in this ahead of Michaels Pick, a former open winner who is better than his return effort in Castletown-Geoghegan recently.
