Impressive daughter of Blue Bresil books her ticket to Aintree sale

Blue Bresil has proven to be the go-to sire for buyers at sales over the past two months, and he looks to have produced another youngster with Flamingo Grove making a winning debut at Tattersalls last Sunday.

A €38,000 purchase from last year’s Goffs Arkle sale, the half-sister to Grade 1 runner-up Pistol Whipped created a big impression with the performance that she produced on her introduction.

Always to the fore under Conor Moore, she steadily began to turn on the taps from the exit out of the back straight, with only three of her nine rivals initially able to match that first increase in tempo, but it was as she approached the home bend that her rider asked her to stamp her authority on proceedings.

That is something that she did swiftly, and the Moore looking either side for challengers, she powered clear to defeat more experienced rivals easily by eight lengths.

“It’s our first four-year-old runner since the new year, so it was good to see the fitness was there because it's hard enough to judge, even though she works well and all at home – you don’t really know until you run one,” Moore said.

“I’m delighted with her as she won with a good bit in hand. She’s a nice mare, big, strong and with plenty of scope.”

Unsurprisingly, she was swiftly added to the catalogue for the Goffs UK Aintree sale on Thursday where she will be offered as lot five after racing at the Liverpool venue’s Grand National festival.

The Rathbarry Stud resident has been breaking records inside and out of the sales ring, chief amongst his progeny is another pointing export in the shape of the multiple Grade 1 winner Constitution Hill.

The latter is the highest-ever-rated novice hurdler, an achievement that he supplemented by becoming the top British-trained hurdler in the last quarter of a century, and he follows in a line of Grade 1 track winners, from Blue Lord, to Royal Pagaille, L’Autonomie, Inthepocket and Good Land.

Meanwhile in the sales ring, his stores realised prices of  £210,000, €170,000 and €150,000 last summer, whilst foals achieved prices of £90,000, €82,000, and €70,000.
