Derek O’Connor finished off a memorable season as Senior Champion and joint Western Champion.

O’Connor will be winning the senior title for the fifth time, having first won it back in 2018 and this will be his third consecutive win.

The record breaker rider finished his season on a total of 1345 winners, he had four doubles this season.

The Galway native who recently added his name to the handlers table enjoyed a successful season when saddling six winners all in the four-year-old category.

His biggest supporter this season was Sam Curling who supplied him with seven winners.

O’Connor also had a memorable season on the track with success at all three of the big National Hunt Festivals this season. He had a double at the Cheltenham Festival when winning the National Hunt Chase aboard Corbetts Cross and the Kim Muir aboard the Gavin Cromwell trained Inothewayurthinkin.
