Boardsmill Stud is delighted to announce the acquisition of multiple stakes winner Arrest from Juddmonte Farms.

The imposing son of Frankel was trained by John Gosden and won 4 races at 2 and 3 over distances from 8 to 13 furlongs.

He won or was placed in 10 of his 13 starts with 10 of these starts at Group level. He won 2 races at 2 and finished second in the Gr.1 Gran Criterium de Saint-Cloud.

His initial success at Group level came as a 3 year old in the Gr.3 Chester Vase which he won by 6 ½ lengths and subsequently started favourite in the Epsom Derby won by Auguste Rodin.

He also won the Gr.3 Geoffrey Freer Stakes as a 3 year old and followed up this performance with an excellent 2nd place in the Gr.1 St Leger stakes at Doncaster.

John Flood stated: “We are delighted to have acquired Arrest from Juddmonte Farms, a farm we have had success buying from in the past.

“He was a high-class racehorse and is a gorgeous looking individual, standing 16.2.h.h with a wonderfully athletic walk. His good looks are borne out by the fact that he was purchased as a foal by Juddmonte for €440,000.

"He showed precocity as a 2 year old by winning twice and finishing 2nd at Group 1 level. He won the Chester Vase impressively on his 3 year old debut, a race previously won by Old Vic and his other Group race success at 3 was in the Geoffrey Freer Stakes, a race previously won by another Champion National Hunt sire Presenting.
He finished off his 3 year old year by running out a gallant 2nd in the Gr.1 St Leger at Doncaster.

“His pedigree contains a nice blend of speed and stamina on both his sire and dam’s side. He is a son of the Champion Frankel and his dam, who has produced 3 stakes performers to date, descends from the highly influential Roberto and Top Ville lines.

"Most importantly Arrest has retired fully sound of wind and limb and we look forward to showing him to breeders when he arrives to Boardsmill.”

His trainer John Gosden said: “Arrest is an attractive individual with a powerful action. He was a classy consistent performer who appreciated some cut in the ground”.

Barry Mahon, Racing Manager to Juddmonte Farms commented: “Arrest is a very good looking individual with a wonderful temperament and was a very sound and clean winded racehorse. We have retained some breeding rights in him and look forward to the career of his half-brother Detain who was impressive winning his first two starts at 2 for us this year.”

A fee for Arrest will be announced at a later date.
