IHRB Point to Point Stewards Enquiry Longford (H) Point to Point Meeting Sunday 16 March 2025

The Acting Stewards interviewed Mr L.P. Shanahan, rider of Dora D’or placed first, concerning his use of the whip in the latter stages of the 5yo & Upwards Mares Maiden.

Evidence was heard from the rider concerned.

Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Acting Stewards were of the opinion that the rider was in breach of Regulation 58. 3.(h) in that he had used the whip with his arm being or appearing to be above shoulder height.

Having taken his previous record into consideration, the Acting Stewards suspended Mr L.P. Shanahan for one Point to Point raceday.

The Acting Stewards interviewed Mr S. Staples, rider of Miss Bumblebee, placed second, concerning his use of the whip in the latter stages of the 5yo & Upwards Maiden.

Evidence was heard from the rider concerned.

Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Acting Stewards were of the opinion that the rider was in breach of Regulation 58. 3.(h) in that he had used the whip with his arm being or appearing to be above shoulder height and Regulation 58. 3.(i) in that he had used the whip without allowing or appearing to allow his mount at least three strides to respond.

Having taken his previous record into consideration, the Acting Stewards suspended Mr S. Staples for three Point to Point racedays.
