• 1984 saw a new name on the top award. Enda Bolger rode 33 winners to take the title with Tom Costello well adrift on 26 and a further gap of ten winners to John Sleator on 16
• Bolger would go on to take the overall award seven times in total and also become the winning most rider in the history of the sport with 413 winners bypassing Willie Rooneys old record of 401
• John Sleator gained compensation for his third placing with his first Ulster title
• Caroline Beasley & Carmel Connaughton divided the ladies title with three winners each.
• The Novice title went to Liam (W J) Burke who finished with a total of eight winners
• The Leinster title went to Tony Martin for the first time and this was also the first time Ted Walsh had not one it as he had taken it for the first two years but had to settle for second.
