Half Century for Maxine O`Sullivan

Cork native Maxine O’Sullivan not only secured her third ladies title last weekend,  but also reached a significant milestone when riding her 50th winner between-the-flags at Kinsale on Sunday.

The 27-year-old rode a winner on all three days of racing over the bank holiday weekend, but it was Super Citizen that provided her with the half century in the winners of two at Kinsale.

O’Sullivan had her first ride aboard the Merry Mason back in January 2008 and it was the same horse who provided her with her first winner the following month a Knockanard.

Eight winners in the 2009/2010 season secured Maxine her first Ladies title, while a career best of 13 winners in 2013/14 provided the lady rider with her second title.

Her father Eugene has been a fantastic supported over the years, supplying Maxine with 37 of her point-to-point winners. Many of the country’s leading handlers have also been supporters as O’Sullivan has enjoyed success when combining with the likes of David Finn, Willie Murphy, Tom Keating, Tony Martin, David Christie, Sam Curling, Mic Winters, Pat Doyle, Robert Tyner and Jim Dreaper.

O'Sullivan has been associated with some fantastic point-to-point stalwarts over the years, winning multiple races on the likes of Tous Chez, The Merry Mason, Cork Citizen, A Decent Excuse, The Hollinwelll and It Came To Pass.
