Ramses De Teillee impresses in Grade 2 Novices Hurdle

Ramses De Teillee caused somewhat of a surprise when landing the Grade 2 Albert Bartlett River Don Novices’ Hurdle in the hands of Tom Scudamore by a widening 17 lengths.

It looked to be a two-horse race as other ex-pointer Champagne Well and Ramses De Teillee kicked for home after jumping the penultimate obstacle, however favourite Champagne Well was no match for the eight-year-old Ramses De Teillee as he pulled clear of his only rival on the run-in to win easily.

The son of Martaline has enjoyed a successful chasing career and he has now won two out of his three starts over hurdles having opened up his account at Cheltenham in October.

The gelding started his career with Wexford handler Colin Bowe, when getting off the mark at the second time of asking in his point-to-point at Ballyarthur, before being sold to David Pipe for £55,000 at the Cheltenham Sales.
