Kinsale absent as 2023 spring fixture list published
The Irish National Hunt Steeplechase Committee have confirmed the full spring fixture list for the 2023 which does not include the two-day spring festival fixture in Kinsale.
The 2022 two-day fixture did not go ahead following a much-publicised dispute between the Stewards of the INHSC and the South Union committee that stage the Kinsale fixture over their request to continue racing on the June Bank Holiday weekend.
Publication of next spring’s fixture list confirms the continued absence of Kinsale from the calendar with the season now set to conclude a fortnight earlier than had traditionally been the case on May 21st with racing at both Inchydoney and Ballingarry.
A total of 73 fixtures have been programmed beginning at Dromahane on December 30th, with further changes to the schedule largely affecting the northern region, with no spring fixture scheduled for Loughbrickland, whilst the two-day fixture in Largy is also absent following confirmation that the Killultagh, Old Rock and Chichester hunt have disbanded.
Necarne does retain a spring presence but with it’s two-day May fixture now gone, the Fermanagh committee will now host a one-day meeting on Saturday April 22, with the reduced northern calendar concluding on May 6 at Broughshane.
In the midlands, Durrow makes a welcome return with the Streamstown Harriers now taking charge at the course which will race on Sunday March 19.
