Top-class entries for the Tattersalls Cheltenham November sale

The initial entries for the Tattersalls Cheltenham November Sale are now online, featuring 32 point-to-pointers and five INH Flat race winners. Of the 37 entries, 28 are winning or placed four-year-olds.

The sale is scheduled to take place on November 14 after racing on the opening day of the Cheltenham November Meeting, and the catalogue can be viewed online at www.tattersallscheltenham.com

Handler Jonathan Fogarty sends the debut four-year-old winners Golden Heart (Golden Horn) and Our Peggy (Solider Of Fortune), while Denis Murphy of Ballyboy Stables offers two quality four-year-old debut-winning mares – Eskylady, by Maxios and a half-sister to the Grade 2 winner Eskylane, and Britway Belle, who is by Getaway and a half-sister to the Grade 1 Fort Leney third-placed Lord Schnitzel.

The Cormac Doyle-trained Wings Of Eagles four-year-old Majestic Horizon was a smart debut winner of the Tattersalls Ireland-sponsored four-year-old geldings’ maiden at Rathcannon last weekend, and looks a smart prospect.

The five-year-old division includes the Brian Hassett-trained Rine Yeats (Yeats), also a winner at Rathcannon, and Elusive Dreams (Mahler), an impressive 7l winner on debut at Loughrea for trainer Enda Bolger.

From the bumper sector, the early entries include the David Harry Kelly-trained 11 length Tipperary winner State Pension (Diamond Boy), the Galway winner Our Guide (Soldier Of Fortune) and the dual winner and Mark Fahey-trained Governors Rock, a four-year-old by Joshua Tree and successful at Wexford and at Ballinrobe.

Tattersalls Cheltenham Sale Manager Shirley Anderson-Jolag said: “We are delighted with these early entries for the Tattersalls Cheltenham November Sale, with so many smart and talented horses from both the point-to-point field and the bumper division.

“The jumps season has now really stepped up a gear, and the early highlight must be the third Down Royal Champion Chase (G1) win and 10th Grade 1 success for the Tattersalls Cheltenham-sold Envoi Allen; he is a real flagbearer and continually showcases the quality that can be bought in our Cheltenham sale ring.

“A host of younger Tattersalls Cheltenham graduates have also shown off their ability – the Grade 1-winning hurdler Romeo Coolio was a smooth winner on his chase debut, the five-year-old Starzand and the four-year-old Taurus Bay were both impressive on their hurdle debuts.

“Full Of Life, bought at the 2024 Tattersalls Cheltenham Festival Sale by Henry de Bromhead and Gerry Hogan, won the Grade 3 mares’ hurdle at Down Royal, while the Cheltenham Showcase Meeting saw the five-year-old Fortune De Mer gain a first Grade 2 victory, a smart performance from Conman John, who is now two from two over hurdles, while Emma Lavelle’s winner Ma Shantou, who was placed in a bumper at Fairyhouse before selling at the Tattersalls Cheltenham December Sale in 2023, looks an exciting prospect in his second season hurdling.

“With the established stars reappearing and new names coming to the fore it is an exciting time of year, and we are very much looking forward to a quality sale at Cheltenham on November 14.”

A limited number of entries for the Tattersalls Cheltenham November Sale will be open through to Monday, 10th November with point-to-points due to take place in Ireland his weekend at Quakerstown, Dromahane and Knockmullen House.
