Portrush can not only claim to be the track that produced Grade 1 winner - Finian’s Oscar, but also the most northern course on the circuit.
Ahead of their first fixture of the season, Hunt Secretary Hazel Kelly commented on Thursday:
"We are currently putting up the last of the orange fencing, we had the course inspected today by Frankie Fitzsimmons and passed in full so all is good to go for Saturday. The going is yielding so hopefully this will attract a good declaration.
"There is no significant rain forecasted and the temperature is forecasted for 13oC. We will have a tea tent, the bar, a chip wagon and a coffee van, so we are looking forward to a great days racing with a good crowd to support the event."

Shillelagh & District (F) at Tinahely, Co Wicklow

Point-to-Point racing has a long and rich history at the scenic location of Fairwood Park, Tinahely, since 1989. Jamie Codd became the first modern day rider to ride all six winners on the one card at Tinahely in October 2011.
It is Niamh Rothwell’s first year as Hunt Secretary with the Shillelagh’s and she informed us how preparations are going:
"We are looking forward to Sunday, the preparations are going well. It has been raining here on and off and its forecasted to be dry so hopefully that will attract a crowd. We are happy with the entries, they are up from last year.
"We passed the Turf Club inspection this morning and the going is yielding, yielding to soft in places.
"We will have a chip van on the day to provide hot food and minerals, there will also be some delicious crepes available to purchase and a coffee van.The ladies from the committee will also be preparing tea and sandwiches in the hospitality tent, which is nice for anybody that travels.’
